Press Release

Koo Stark, a patron of Dimbola, is creating and curating an exhibition, her homage to Julia Margaret Cameron. It is to be held on the 30th anniversary of our saving Dimbola and opening it as a museum, research centre, and contemporary gallery.

Koo formally opened the restored house located in Freshwater Bay in the Isle of Wight in 1994; Koo's homage to Julia Margaret Cameron is scheduled for May 2024.

Please give Koo every help that you can in this fascinating project. I fully vouch for her as a creative and exciting portrait photographer in her own right and as a researcher with her academic support team.

Dimbola is an accredited museum and charity (No: 1026339), with links to the V&A, the Getty and the National Science Museums. It is itself a magnet for visiting scholars, whom we always welcome.

Our President is the painter, teacher and art historian Julian Bell. Our Vice President is Julia Cameron, the great-granddaughter of the famed photographer Julia Margaret Cameron. Our academic advisor is Professor Edward Chaney, an expert on architectural history and the Grand Tour.

Brian Hinton MA (Oxon), PhD, MBE
Executive Chair of the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust.

As patron of the charity and in support of the forthcoming exhibition in 2024, Koo is donating 15% of all print sales to the Julia Margaret Cameron trust.
